How long have you been doing CrossFit?
Around 8 years. Started in 2012, and really got addicted in 2013.
What was your first CrossFit workout and how did you do?
Murph – 2012. It was incredible! I remember thinking, there is no way anyone could complete this! I scaled all i could and survived. I haven’t looked back since!
What’s your athletic background? Did you play any sports growing up?
Started with Football, wrestling and lacrosse in high school. Played football in college. After college I’ve power lift, ran marathons and competed in CrossFit.
What inspires you as a coach – why do you do it?
I get inspired when i see someone do something they never thought possible. That makes iit all worth the effort.
What are your favorite and least favorite CrossFit movements?
Favorite is HSPU’s. My goal is 20+ strict unbroken. Least favorite would have to be Double Unders. (No rhythm!)
What is one piece of advice you would offer to someone new to CrossFit?
Take the time. Put in the work. Develop the strict strength first. Your muscles and joints will thank you later. Just like anything worth doing, it takes time and effort.
What is your favorite thing about CrossFit (community, challenging workouts, friends, etc?)
Friends and community. I can say that some of my closest friends have come from CrossFit. There’s just nothing in normal life that can bring people together in the same way.
List any athletic accolades, CrossFit or otherwise (college sports, national events, etc.)
Nothing special. Complete five half marathons, two full marathons, 2 Ragnar races, 10+ GORUCK Challenges and more CrossFit competitions than i can count (Only one gold..). The best is surely yet to come.
