How long have you been doing CrossFit?
Since September 2011, so 8 years!
What was your first CrossFit workout and how did you do?
We did deadlifts as the strength. I did 83#. Our workout was something like 3 rounds of box jumps, burpees, and sit ups. It took me 8 minutes and change. I redid it on my 1 year anniversary and it took me less than 3 mins!
What’s your athletic background? Did you play any sports growing up?
Throughout high school, I was a competitive swimmer and diver, a cheerleader, and played recreational softball.
What inspires you as a coach – why do you do it?
I love playing a role in someone’s fitness journey and helping them achieve more than they ever thought possible. ☺
What are your favorite and least favorite CrossFit movements?
I love thrusters and burpees! I do not love snatches.
What is one piece of advice you would offer to someone new to CrossFit?
It’s not as scary as the media makes it out to be. It’s a bunch of real people doing real exercise and everything is scalable! You do not need to spend time “getting fit” before you try CrossFit. Everyone can do it.
What is your favorite thing about CrossFit (community, challenging workouts, friends, etc?)
The people! We all share a love of this amazing sport and the bonds that form because of that are very special.
